Mr and Mrs Pickering bought two 18th-century adjacent cottages after they fell in love with both properties’ period character and idyllic views. They wanted to create a single home that preserved the charm of the old cottages, but also provided the modern facilities they needed.
BG Construction’s works included interior and exterior renovations, the additions of various extensions, structural changes and landscaping. The electrics and plumbing services were relocated. New plastering was applied to modern standards, in a traditional style. A new kitchen, bathrooms and log burners were installed. Then the property was decorated throughout with restoration of some period wooden beams.

Through our architect, we contacted several builders. He had worked with BG Constructions on previous projects and been impressed by the quality of their workmanship. When we met David, we liked his enthusiasm for our project, pricing and availability.
Our project turned out to be bigger than expected which was perhaps not surprising given the age of the house. David was able to absorb this extra work and largely kept within the budget. We felt that all the necessary changes were fairly discussed and agreed with us.
Although we weren’t living on site we were kept informed throughout the building project.
